Our photographic approach focused on process, material, and environment. The images trace the transformation of raw fibers into form—revealing the physical labor, patience, and knowledge embedded in each stage of making.

Beyond material exploration, Fibras emerged as a collective act. Developed alongside a group of women from surrounding rural communities, the project reflects shared learning, experimentation, and the building of opportunity through craft.

Developed beyond Itza Wood’s traditional wood-based collections, Fibras reflects a continued commitment to craftsmanship, community-first practices, and sustainable production. Under Eliza Babarczy’s direction, the project positions material as a living dialogue between nature, human skill, and responsible creation.
